DUMELA!

I’M PRIYANKA, LEGO BUILDER, MUM OF TWO, LEADER IN LEARNING AND CHANGE MAKER FOR PARENTS IN BOTSWANA, THE BEAUTIFUL PLACE I’M PROUD TO CALL HOME.

When I became a mother, I dreamed of my daughter learning through play. We spent hours creating with play dough, indulging in nature play in our garden and building with LEGO and I longed for this to continue as she embarked on life as a preschooler. However, after searching unsuccessfully for a play-centred preschool for my daughter that prioritised wellbeing over academic readiness, I realised if I wanted this for my own children I’d have to create it myself.

So I did.

In 2014, with a labour of love, REWA Little Einsteins was born. Our curriculum and learning spaces have been created in collaboration with experts in occupational therapy, speech therapy, and early childhood to produce a holistic program, based on key milestones in the foundation years. I enrolled my daughter here in 2016 and my son in 2020, amongst over 150 other families over the last 8 years. If you’re looking for a place for your child to thrive, then I am proud to say this is it.

Our student numbers are limited within each class so that we can create individual education plans for each child and guarantee personalized attention. Little Einsteins applies the Rainbow Play Approach, a framework developed by Learn To Play, in our daily lesson plans. This approach recognises the importance of a holistic approach to learning and therefore targets the different areas of development that are crucial to a healthy, happy and thriving learner.

Our days at REWA Little Einsteins are spent building with LEGO, cooking up creations, twirling in music and dance, swimming, using our imaginations in role play and fantasy, painting and creating, and more… When the children leave us to go to primary school, they leave with big smiles and full hearts ready to take on their next chapter in learning. Our school fees are inclusive of all extra-curricular activities during the school mornings such as Swimming, Monkeynastix, Music, Zumba and Cookery.

And here is what I am most proud of. Focused on play, not profit, to this day REWA Little Einsteins is the only not-for-profit preschool in Botswana that benefits the entire community. Every child enrolled in Little Einstein simultaneously supports a cycle of sustainable early childhood education for those most in need, with school fees helping to fund another child’s early years learning through community playgroups across Botswana. Can you imagine how good that feels?

We offer this funding through Learn to Play – a programme our team have created as an extension of what we do at REWA Little Little Einsteins. Learn To Play uplifts mothers and caregivers across the country to establish their own playgroups to provide free early learning to children under 5 in their vibrant villages, giving them the opportunity to play, learn and thrive.

We are passionate about building a brighter Botswana. Are you ready to learn through play?

Monkeynastix at Little Einsteins

Monkeynastix is a broad-based, holistic programme that combines creativity and music with basic training in flexibility, balance, strength, agility, co-ordination and body awareness.

A qualified instructor comes to Little Einsteins to run one fun-filled session per week. Because Monkeynastix believes in rewarding children to build their self-esteem, each child receives a special sticker or hand-out at each session plus other bonuses at the end of the term.

Your child will love and learn from each energy-packed session.

kindermusik

Music with Cedric is a fun, educational class focusing on music and the fundamentals of music. We will work through the practicals of rhythm and pitch through song. Some lessons are vocal, others bring in actual instruments to help with further development and understanding of music. The children will learn the basics of music and a passion for it that will carry them through their lives.

See why Music with Cedric is the most engaging program in Gabs when your child happily participates in this fun music program at Little Einsteins.

Swimming at Little Einsteins

Swimming is an important life skill that all children should learn early on. There are so many benefits in learning to swim, and your child will get pleasure from the ability throughout childhood and into adulthood. Not only is it great for their health, but it could one day save their life too.

The Little Einsteins swim coach is a qualified and registered swimming instructor who will help your child develop a love of the water – and how to be safe around it.

zumba

Zumba Kids features famous Zumba music as well as modern popular songs with a fun beat that’s easy for all ages to follow and enjoy the simple routines. Zumba gives children an outlet to jump, dance, shake and swing their hips. It’s the perfect recipe for fitness fun and energy.

Zumba fitness also adds age appropriate games and activities, helping children gain coordination, self-confidence, overcome fears and shyness and learn about team work and so much more. We do performances for parents during the year to celebrate what their children have accomplished.

Cooking at Little Einsteins

Cooking is the weekly activity most enjoyed by the children at Little Einsteins. They get the opportunity to be constructive and enjoy the results of their labours as they take something back home to show off every week.

This session builds the children’s interest in cooking and food. It’s also a fun way to encourage healthy eating habits and skills for life.

Children also develop stronger sensory profiles as they learn what different foods look and feel like. They get to learn where foods come from, what new words mean, the maths and science of measuring, pouring, and mixing as well as mid-line crossing, hand-eye coordination and more.
